Hello to all,
I am setting up a hobby workshop for building 1 to 3 guitars per year. I love the design aspects and the uniqueness every build will lead to.

I have no experience, knowledge, or technique so I am likely to have many questions. But want to share my journey.

Excellent, and keep us informed of your progress. Are these acoustic or electric ?.

I used to play a bit, well not really, could do a bit of strumming and a few chords, till I realized all I was really doing was tormenting people

Hi Triton, thanks for the warm welcome.

It will be electric guitars. I have been collecting the materials to build my first one from scratch over the past 6 months and can't wait to start making some sawdust.

I built a cheap kit guitar over lockdown which inspired me. Only part that required woodwork was the headstock and then I learnt to spray painted the body. I am pleased with the results but needs to be reworked at some point to fix some of the errors.

Welcome to the forum. Which scale length are you going for? I like both, but will probably aim for L.P for my first ( id like to make a good electric for blues )

Hi baldkev, going for a scale length of 25.5". The original idea was to do 27" baritone but the current wood I have for the neck turned out to be slightly too short. I have sourced a custom tele style bridge pickup and a mini humbucker P90 for the neck.

Hello and Welcome :), sadly I have never been able to play any musical instrument ,anything above "chopsticks" on the piano has proven beyond my abilities, I have every respect for those that can play any instrument (believe it or not i can listen to the Bagpipes for hours o_O:eek: thanks to a Bosuns Mate who used to play and practice on the aft end ,from what i hear he became a Canadian winner of several competitions).
Please post pics if time permits, would love to see how you progress (y)

Thanks Mark.B. I wouldn't say I am a good guitarist and wouldn't even know where start with bagpipes, the only time I have listened to bagpipes is via Korn. I will post pics as I go. In the process of clearing out the summerhouse to transform it into a workshop.

Hi Baldkev, yes the MDF board the drawing is on will be used to make the templates with a jigsaw once I have drawn the individual parts out. Then rough cut the guitar blanks I have to shape on a bandsaw to clear the bulk, then use a router with the template.
