Offcuts.
Everyone mentions their scraps or offcuts box/bin/bag.
I've been hoarding everything with a crisp edge!
Do you have a rule of thumb ("less than six inches and out") or what?
I need to man up and feed some square-but-not-useful bits to the woodburner.

no- 6" are good for pen turning. the offcuts from pens make good cufflinks or keyrings. much smaller than an inch and it has to go!

I throw out anything smaller than the button on this car key. :D

I have an off-cuts rack, hardwood one side, pine the other, and lengths vary from about 200mm to about 1200. Right next to is the scrap bin, where I chuck stuff for burning.....but this bin is still my usual first port-of-call when looking for small oddments.

I used to hoard everything greater than about 15cm, thinking I'd use it eventually. After 2+ years of not using it, I started chucking the majority of it away, unless it is a decent hardwood.

Generally no less than 300mm. Under that I cut in half for my friends kindling bin.

I have a few bins or varying sizes for various size offcuts. I don't keep anything more than will fit in them. If they get full, and I have more offcuts, then I'll throw or replace depending on which piece looks more useful.

At the minute I'm keeping anything big enough to make dice from.
Even oddly shaped bits are used to wedge doors, prop up wonky tables, infil loose interior glazing, and all manner of things. I have a box for 'offcuts' and a bucket for proper little bits.

If you have any big-ish bits, then consider boxing them up and offering them to forum members willing to pay postage?

Business here, off cuts are a big problem cost wise, probably anything smaller than a 2ft x 2ft of panel material goes in the skip and solid stuff depends on what we are doing, I generate enough bags of wood to run 2 log burners non stop during the winter. fill a 14 yard skip every 10 days roughly.

I make ukuleles, so anything shorter than 3mm is unlikely to be useful :)

But the burning of larger pieces is alarming (2 bits of vertical grain hardwood, 300 x 100 x 50 = a whole ukulele).

What we need is a network of pubs with sheds. Then I could pop in, collect some wood, and leave a drink behind the bar for the contributor. More warming than that amount of wood in a wood-burner ...

An excellent idea, however I'd never be in a fit state to build anything

Brilliant idea - could end up working fantastically locally, maybe moderators could make a new section if they'd be so kind and instead of alcohol the receiver could make a donation to a named charity!
