Bit of history! On a record combi plane I just got to make T&G

Nice surprise.

Can't quite make out the whole message but I take it that its wartime made when nickel was in short supply. Got a pic of the plane itself.
Regards
John

just having a proper look over it. Even got the original 'paid in full' tag signed and a bag of hand labelled spare nickel plated thumb screws

Yes war time finish then no nickel

Going to give it a clean. Last owner was a user as the irons have been initialised and properly honed

I'll be using it for tongue and grooving as well as drawer making

Interesting that the Hansard debate is dated July 1951 - a few months before the Labour government fell. In many respects rationing got worse after the war.

Even I can remember some of the rules still in place in the late 50's. Notably being sent to buy a loaf of bread, as a child, and being puzzled when the shop assistant weighed it and added an additional bread roll.
