The green and wetter end of the M4.
Or is it hingeing?
Anyway, I'm making a (rough not fine) lightweight box (16x12'' wet panel carrier) from 3.6mm ply and need to hinge the lid. Hinges made from webbing strap or similar is all that springs to mind. Has anyone any other simple suggestions? Thanks in advance.
(Simple box , ply panels with 12x12mm corner beads pinned and glued internally )

Just use ordinary hinges on the surface but drill right through the plywood and fix with small machine screws and nuts. Use washers or a thin brass plate on the back.

The only plastic piano hinge I've seen was made of polypropylene and was very resistant to any glues.

I would either go with AndyT's suggestion or use normal screws in the hinge - glue them in place with epoxy and cut any excess thread off the back. I use 3/3.6mm ply on the ceilings of our site cabins, its surprisingly strong for its thickness.

You only mention webbing strap (also used on flying model aircraft for flap and aileron hinges), but I believe you may find some other way in aeromodelling equipment shops.

I made a doll's wardrobe with 6mm MDF. I appreciate that's thicker, but not by much and I just bought hinges from the bay, hand-drilled them and then a dab of epoxy before I screwed them in. I'm thinking that the same thing should work with your material, although you may need to file them or pack them out a bit. Something like these;

For about two quid, you can't go wrong. They say they are 10mm wide, which, if you discount about 2-3mm for the joined part of the hinge, would make them about the same thickness as your material.

Dunno if this will help, but I saw a box hinged with triangular pieces of metal used as hinges on the sides. They had been bent over so that one whole side of the triangle was on the top, with the opposite point used as the pivot.

Using Andy T's idea with bolts would work well.
