Hi All,

My Daughter made her Fist Holy Communion a few weeks ago, and her grandmother ( my MIL ) lent her a St Christopher Medal to wear for the day - this had belonged to her mother, ( My daughters Gt Grandmother ) was engraved with the date it was given to her, and was 80 years old almost to the day. Was nice to see it being used thru the generations in the same way.

I returned it to her yesterday for safekeeping until she wished to hand it on, but turning this little box to keep it in.

Mahogany down to 320 then friction polished. Approx 4 inches dia

where did you get the hinged lid..?

We have a guy come up to the club once every few months with his stall, got it from him - 4 euros. - Not sure where he gets them, but i think Stiles and Bates have them.

Great idea Loz and nice work.

It is nice to think that things like this will be handed down.

Take care

NIce work there,

I did a couple of boxes using those hinges, not long afterwords on opening the box the hinge and lid parted company,,,,,,,I used superglue.

I then reglue them with epoxy resin, and yes they broke off again, they are just for display now, until I discover a magic glue to keep them fastened on,,,,if that is possible.

Hi Gordon,

The box was turned to fit tight into the hinge recess, then a little glue added ( not realy necessary ) . I think it will hold, But as the contents have been used 3 times in 80 years - i dont thing the hinge will get that much use !
