Hi all. I have been asked to make a cabinet / sideboard along the lines of one shown in pictures. The doors (glazed) are face mounted but appear to be rebated - so that they dont protrude too far.
I presume the hinges are cranked in some way.
My questions are; Does anyone have an insight into the type of hinge to achieve this. The hinge would have to fit in a way that it does not interfere with the rebate and still has enough material on the reverse of the door for screws.
Any one now where I might be able to get Bronze or failing that antique brass that would work in this configuration.
Thanks in advance.

I think what you're really looking for is what I know as a 'wrap around overlay hinge' which is intended for use with 'partial overlay' doors, what your image shows, i.e., a door perhaps 20 mm thick with a rebate inset from the outer edge by 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2" (determined by the choice of hinge) leaving a tongue usually 1/4" or so thick. They're not so common here in the UK, but are a popular style in North America. Try a Google search using the term I gave above and you should find examples by brands like Amerock priced in Pounds indicating there's a UK supplier. Here's a link to a page that describes the various parts of this type of hinge and gives a good idea of how they are installed, although it is an American based site: http://www.thehardwarehut.com/cabinet_hinge_types.php

You might also be able to use a 'cranked flush hinge', either Type 1 or Type 2 available from Ironmongery Direct who are UK based. There's a link to one example below, although it's not especially attractive nor as well made as the example you show. Slainte.
