Umm, i worked 20 years in IT, got fed up, worked in Horticulture ever since. I was educated in the 60's which means i got a proper education, in the days when the boys did Metalwork, Woodwork and Technical Drawing, and the girls did Dressmaking and Domestic Science.

Before all that career stuff I used to do welding out of a van on driveways, I can turn wood, do major DIY (built a conservatory from scratch all alone). I have gutted and refitted a couple of terrace house for profit, and have picked up various miscellaneous skills in my life such as glass engraving, watercolour painting, lock picking, roofing, glazing. I fitted central heating systems and just ripped the gas fire out the living room and inserted a wood burning stove, because its cheaper to burn fivers than gas. Im a barrack room lawyer, and write on a Forum for Speeding Offences advice. I also write local history pages in wikipedia.

Currently have an allotment, an interesting challenge in how to do things on zero budget

Thanks.

Its perfectly legal to buy a lockpick set on the net and pick your own locks, you go to places like http://walkerlocksmiths.co.uk/tools.htm, a 5 piece padlock lockpick set should set you back about £20.

First thing I did when I bought one was went round and tried to pick all the padlocks I owned. I managed to pick approx 50% of them, so all the ones i DID manage to pick i immediately threw away and bought better replacements. After all, if an amateur like me can pick it, a proper thief would find it a doddle.

Strangely enough, although you can own almost any lock picking device avaiable, it IS illegal to posses a type of lock pick device called a bump key, unless you are a lock smith. This is because a properly cut bump key can open any Yale or Union lock on the planet.

If you want to see something scary, heres an 11 year old year learning to bump open a lock, takes about 30 seconds to teach her http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5fLgxqWvJQ

Once again that puts me into story mode.
During my apprenticeship the company bought a batch of 50 second hand clothes lockers, cheap.
They were cheap cos everyone was locked and not a damn key in sight anywhere!
