Hi all, the router isn't a tool I use a great deal but now I need to use one, my limited stock of bits is letting me down!
I need to find a trim bit with a top bearing with a small diameter, ideally 10mm with as long as cutting section as possible, about 30mm if such a thing exists? Any help would be very much appreciated.thank you

I need it to plunge and then cut out a shape within a jig that has a tight radius on two corners...thanks for the links I'll have a look

+1 for Wealden.

I have a depressing collection of bearing-equipped template cutters, acquired usually as part of a kit (from s/h router purchases, etc.). The ones from the sheds and certain discount outlets can be truly horrid.

If quality matters go straight there (Wealden).

Also, you can make the starter hole in many different ways - your bearing-guided cutter doesn't have to plunge cut of itself. So don't get too hung up on having one that can.

As nobody has mentioned it, the cutter used for that sort of purpose is called a combination panel cutter and is commonly used in the caravan industry, coach bodybuilding, SIPS panel manufacture/installation, etc. They are designed to plunge something like a plywood or composite board and use the template or frame shape below to guide the bit. The pilot section at the bottom of the bit has a bit if Vaselene or paraffin wax applied every so often to prevent burning. They work well, but don't have a long life

Brilliant, thanks again. I tried posting some pics just there to show you what I do but need to learn how to resize them smaller!
