Looks like it's a Record 52 1/2 D clone. If it was a genuine Record it would have their name cast into the front

Agreed - except for the 52 1/2 D - the "D" stands for Dog, which this one clearly doesn't have.

Cheers, Vann.

I think if you want to maximise your profit you should take a leaf from many of the bigger plane sellers on eBay and clean it up before listing it.

It'll take about an hour of dirty, dusty work with a wire brush in a power drill if you want to remove the rust manually but I'm sure it'll be worth a lot more than as it sits. With fresh paint as well it could look nearly as good as new.

I'd slightly disagree with Ed, don't think you will get that much for it either way. Vices usually last a few life times use so most people want a name and a quick release. I've bought a few cheap on ebay, all names and all quick release.

Collection only is where the bargains are but if you are prepared to post that might encourage the bidders.

Edit Big oops just had another look at the pics and realised its a quick release.

If it looks in tip-top shape I'm sure it'll attract a wider range of buyers, the ones particularly wanted are the type for whom it's condition, condition, condition. They seem to be willing to pay a bit more for stuff.

No guarantees of course

Maybe just give the thread a quick oil / clean. You could spend ages on it and that would bring the price into shabby named brand territory. Maybe someone looking for a second vice would be tempted as they could easily paint it for themselves to match the other without the hasle of stripping it first.

Def don't waste your time unless you are willing to post.
