Hello everyone,

Now, I know what a generous bunch of people we have on these forums and that's why I've decided to post my fundraising appeal up on here, in the hope some of you may spare that old tool at the car boot you've seen and decide to sponsor me for Marie Curie Cancer Care instead! :D

On Saturday 3rd September 2011, 7pm I will be joining in with many others on a 10k walk thru the Shugborough Estate to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care! They provide care for terminally ill cancer patients and they do a great job doing so.

All funds raised will go towards building a new hospice in the West Midlands area, as the exisiting one is 100 years old and is reaching the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced.

Currently I am aiming to raise £300 by myself, but this is only a small amount compared to what the charity is aiming to raise overall.

Marie Curie needs to raise £7million to make this happen and that is I am taking part in this 10k walk.

So please, if you have anything to spare, sponsor me with what you can as every penny counts!

Thankyou for taking the time to read about what I'm doing for charity and I hope you help me make it worthwhile.

Here's the link you need if you wish to give any donations: http://www.justgiving.com/Marie-Curie-Walk-Simon

Thankyou for your support Allen, its very much appreciated and makes it all the more worthwhile for me and the charity to do the whole event! So thankyou very much :) :) :)

The very best of luck Simon, they are wonderful people, forgive me for not contributing but I already donate monthly to MacMillan.
Which raises a point for anyone interested, you can make monthly contributions to MacMillan via Direct Debit, and every little bit helps a wonderful cause.
Apologies about the plug.

Roy.

I don't mind the plug.... Cancer charities are all aiming for the same thing at the end of the day so the money all helps the same thing really. Frequent donations can be made to any charity via Just Giving, where I am hosting my sponsorship page currently... Its not by direct debit though so you're not tied into any commmitments at all. The only fee Just Giving take is a 5% deduction from Gift Aid if you choose to use it. So a £10 donation to a charity or my sponsorship page would work out like this:

Donation of £10
Gift Aid £2.50
Just Giving 5% Gift Aid deduction 64p
Credit card fee (if you pay using one) @ 1.3% 13p
Total deductions 77p
Total donation which the charity recieves £12.05

I must also add that Marie Curie Cancer Care recommended the website Just Giving for me to get online sponsors. If anybody wishes to make a donation directly to the charity in support of my walk please PM me for my address which you could send a cheque made out to Marie Curie Cancer Care which would be passed on on the event day.
