Hello!

Rejoined the forumn as I no longer have access to the old email account I used when I joined 10 years ago.

Based outside Fort William, in the Scottish Highlands.

Garage based workshop with a blend of machinary and hand tools.

Many hand tools inherited.

Mainly interested in gaining timber framing skills for car port, porch and decking projects around the house.

Plus, making furniture.

Also enjoy wood working projects with my children, lovely to see them using their great grand fathers / great great grand fathers tools.

Hi and welcome fellow Scot :)

I've a soft spot for the Fort William area, as I got hypothermia there in the winter of '87
Yes, hyperthermia is a issue, especially during the summer......

Sadly I don't think I am Scottish, born in London, to an Irish mother, which I think makes me English.

My 9 year daughter is very clear on the fact that she is Scottish. :)

Welcome along. I’m an Englishman living in Aberdeen for the past 15yrs. I’ve two Scottish born boys and am claiming Scottish nationality through reverse inheritance. I’ve even worn a kilt a few times to no ill effect.

Or Irish
I believe if you have an Irish parent, you can apply for Irish citizenship in the form of a passport, which means you dont have to wait in those big long queues when going on holiday. Someone on another forum im on has done just that.
Something I keep meaning to do as my G/Grandfather and family name originate in Northern Ireland.

Perhaps a bit late for yourself, but your daughter, being Scottish, is entitled to free university education, which will save a pretty penny.

So all the benefits of being Scottish or Irish :D

Welcome, from an Irish passport holder!

I had two at one point; U.K and Oirish. Why? Going out to India for charity work, and at the time, and "Brits" were being severely frowned upon (hassled badly) by Delhi for remarks made by the then Foreign Secretary...So, being born on the green island, I was Irish passport eligible, even though I lived in "De Nort" and I paid my taxes to H.M.R.C. 😁 Result? No Anglophobia.

Ah ken Fort William well. I've slithered and skittered over many a wee hill up there and made use of the helipad down on the Loch shore carpark on one famous occasion. You live in a smashin' part of the world.
