i just bought a saw and one of the blade clamps with tightening screw is lost so i need a replacement.
anyone with a hegler machine point me in the right direction for spares and what exactly is the correct term for that part to order

Do an internet search on "Hegner scroll saw blade clamps" and you will find what you are after. They will have either a thumbscrew or a machine screw to tighten them. They also used to be available in one of two? different blade slot widths, dependant on your chosen blade.

does every different blade need different clamps?
what blades would you recommend for getting started

Blade type & size (number) USUALLY depends on your personal preferences. Of course as a real beginner, you won't have developed any yet!

So we make it "easy peasy" here! Go to the sticky thread at the top of this Scrolling & Scroll Saws section. You'll find a downloadable "No Fail Blade Chart" which is always a good place for a beginner to start. There are also downloadable charts from one of the well-known manufacturers (Pegas) showing ALL the blades they make (wood AND metal, plus coping saw and junior hacksaw blades); and details of other popular/well-known blades. PLUS details of where to buy.

ALSO, I don't know much about Hegner machines myself, but there are two very Hegner-knowledgeable members here - "scrimper" and "loose nuts". If one of those two gents doesn't appear here soon, then send either/both of them a PM.

Edit for P.S. As a beginner I'd also strongly recommend an online visit to one or two US specialist scrolling websites. For e.g. search for Steve Good.

And another P.S. NOT taking the mickey ('onest) but getting the spelling right will help your searching tremendously - it's HEGNER

Blade clamp, come in 0.5mm 0.7 and 1.0mm,
The 0.7 covers most things...

If you are planning on doing a lot of internal cuts then buy a blade clamp and a thumbscrew for it or buy the new version qr clamp

Hm2023c 0.7 clamp
The 0.7 clamp is also available with an additional hex screw if you use an allen key to tighten.

Otherwise i recommend rhe clock key

HM-CK, ergonomic red plastic handle, much more comfortable to use rather than all metal types

I have the quick clamp with the thumbscrew on my Hegner Multicut 1vs and it works well, you need pinless blades remember ( I don't think any Hegner models use pinned )
I've always foung Hegner very helpful, if you ring them with your serial number they should be able to give a production date and I think you can still download the manual, if not they're around on the internet. or one of us can help

Later models had the full year printed seperate ie 1998
All Hegners accept pinned blades without needing the clamps

I'm not sure I want clamps fitting to my Helluver Willy.

I assumed (wrongly) that they didn't accept pinned as the blades Hegner sell and recommend appear to be only pinless. I don't use my scollsaw much tbh so it's a long time since I bought blades.
