Could someone advise why some Hegner machines have the ‘red lever’ to tighten the blade, and others don’t. I am going to pick up a s/h Hegner tomorrow, a Multicut 1 with variable speed and foot pedal, but it does not have the red lever to tighten the blade. It is a 2021 model.
Pic below of one showing the red lever (picture borrowed from someone on another thread😊) and pics of the one I am getting showing machine and year…..

I believe s it's a "new quick tension relief" to save reaching to the back of the arm. On other models you can buy a replacement for the tension rod that incorporates a quick release

hegner may be touted as quality, but not all Hegners are, much depends on how they have been treated

Many used machines are ex school or college machines, some abused others hardly used

I have only ever had one Hegner, it was noisy, single speed which danced around unless bolted down firmly, although it looked very clean under the dust and grime, I believe it was an abused one, I sold it on

I have an Axminster AWFS18, a Hegner clone which has been perfect in every way for the last ten years, which also has the quick release tension lever

I see the one you are buying has the quick clamp, its worth its weight in gold (and worth about £30 on its own)
