This is a house sign I made as a suprise for friends who have moved into a new house, they also breed hawks and owls so the name of the house was perfect (even if they didn't realise what it was called at first!) the sign was made from solid oak, I first looked up an outline of a flying hawk on the internet, printed it off and enlarged it on the photocopier to A1 size, the body of the hawk was cut out so I could freehand write the letters in, then the picture was glued to the blank and with a jigsaw the white sections were cut out, I had to glue sandpaper to lolly pop sticks to sand the inside but I was happy with the results and so were my friends!

Not sure why the pics are rotated as they are ok on photobucket?

Thats fab :D I know if I tried that with a jigsaw I would end up with a one winged mess

Thanks guys, yes XY it seems they are, could be to do with people renovating rather than moving? Fergus give it a go, I didn't know I could do it as this was my first one, the jigsaw was able to nibble some of the tricky bits and you have a lot more control than you think.
