I've just been watching the first episode of "Antiques Uncovered" which includes an item on Chippendale. Historian Lucy Worsley visits a workshop and has a go with a scratch stock, moulding plane, brace and mortice chisel. Her mentor is very polite about her efforts, despite the way she clearly does not come naturally to the work - sensitive viewers with some woodwork experience may find themselves cringing somewhat.
Still, nice to see proper tools on the telly. Available on iPlayer here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01hbmsp/Antiques_Uncovered_Entertainment/ - go to about 18 minutes in.
