is it me or are the chisel listings in hand tool bargains ebay shop a little confusing can anyone give me a brief rundown on the makers and also the types of chisels. basically im after oire nomi or umeki nomi basic quality bench chisels at the cheapest price what do people think would be the best selection i am not the slightest bit bothered about matching sets

I started out recommending this seller a couple or three months ago, with the caveat that he took serious shortcuts in showing which items were actually for sale. For example, a single set of photographs to illustrate several chisels, even made by different smiths, and certainly different sizes. This is very significant since the way the cutting steel wraps the soft steel is a very significant indicator of quality and care. It's much more difficult to wrap a small chisel properly.

Also, I never knew what the shipping charges (to the US) would be when buying several items. I complained about both these issues several times with no effect except that Peter finally refused to sell to me. I honestly don't know what it is with men. What I said would have helped him make more sales, each for more money, but he refused to even take directions under advisement. So, even when lost he forges on forward, bull headed and irritable.

That said, his chisels are good even though he has nothing that I'm much interested in any more, lots of full length oire nomi. The boxwood handled Iyori I bought are very good, also the Miyanaga and Koyamaichi.

Given that you're in the UK and probably not so picky about how a particular chisel is made, I'd say Peter offers good deals, at least on the "Buy it now" items.
