I'm afraid this story has a beginning and nearly an end, with no middle. What can I say, I've been busy. But I thought I'd post some pics on what I've been up to, as I keep asking you all for advice

The main reason for the build is to provide accommodation for friends and family when they visit. The secondry objective was to provide us with a storage shed for all our junk, and kids toys etc. With each passing day I'm changing this second objetive into a workshop :) The plan is to convert the guest accommodation into a play room in the future (parties, games etc), so there will be a temprary dividing stud wall (which isn't up yet) for a few years to start with.

So here is the hole for the foundations, complete with re-enforcements:

And suddenly (a day later honest), a guest house and workshop:

Inside the workshop:

And inside the guest house (the little room with ply walls is for a wet room):

Any questions or suggestions welcome.

Cheers

I think the workshop should in fact be the guest room and the guest room the workshop. The wet room can be for cleaning. I think you'll find all in favour here at UKW. :)

You need to stop being a wet lettuce and put your foot down with wifey. A man needs his workshop! Friends and family can pipper off when they've outstayed their welcome.

No? Looks good anyway ;)

Is this guest house strictly for friends and family or will you be renting it out to generate a little extra income?

Regardless of its size, you have a workshop now - one way or another, you're going to need a means of funding those future tool purchases!! :D

Indeed, I'm glad I didn't start a poll though.

Lol, in one thread I saw one of you boys had to give up a garage to put a car in! It would be easier to justify if I could actually make anything.

Looks good anyway ;)
Thanks. It was that oak splitting that lead me to this forum. I'm being asked to finish it by christmas, but I'm really struggling. I'm levelling the shed floor at the moment (that's not going down well, aparantly I should be doing the guest house) and it's proving harder than I hoped (but that goes for everything).

It's really for friends and family, as we don't have the space in our flat.

That's right, I have a workshop :) I just need to get inventive on how to work around the double doors. I know it's smaller than ideal, but some of those here would love to have even this little space.
