OK some of you will know that I have been prattling on about an Axi 1628 for ages so today I got a........ HEGNER.
Thank you John. (JPT)

Well done Graham I would have been after it myself if it was not so far south ,like you I have been debating what to upgrade to,I quite fancy a Wivamac though.

Looks like a good machine well done. Looking forward to your entry in this months turning comp!

Looks like you have a very nice lathe there I just wish I had the money to treat myself to another lathe, but my wife would stop me as I already have 2

Thanks guys. Really looking forward to getting into the monthly comp, even if the first few are pure junk...... but not this month :)
Got to build a base for it ( assuming I can remember how to put the lathe back together today ) and get some bits and pieces....
Chuck.
Jaws.
Tools.
Sorby Pro Edge.
lots of other odds and sods
But I intend to be in there for the Easter Egg ( do scrambled eggs count ? )

This is what you might call a good compromise.

I wanted a 1628 and maybe I still do but a good quality lathe like the hegner for £500 was irresistible. It will be good to learn on and if I am no good, or decide to still get the 1628 I can sell it on and lose very little.
