Needing a piece of steel for a jig I ordered this - Indexa GFS Gauge Plate 15x5x500

The important bit of the specs was this

Stupidly, I assumed it would be perfect - it's gauge plate, after all.

So I cut it to length, drilled it, test fitted it, and it wasn't even close to fitting.

So finally now I decide to check it

Its face ground, not ground all around and the width is within tolerance.

My bad, your absolutely right. Cromwel are a good company, I know it doesn’t help with what you’ve done, but give them a call they will sort it out.

My intention wasn't to rubbish Cromwel - just to point out that you should always double check :)

If it makes you feel any better, I would also have assumed it was to spec. and motored ahead With it coming from a reputable company. From China, I don't believe anything, only that it looks like some form of metal! And check everything I can.
