Good tool shop in Woking

Surrey in general is devoid of any decent tool shops or timber suppliers in my opinion, certainly outside the M25 anyway. (I don't really include SL hardwoods as being Surrey)

This website caught my eye some time ago. They are based in Woking but its not clear if you can walk in or its web only. Never used them yet myself.

Yeah they do have a shop its on a trading estate tucked away, they sell lots of Festool stuff but they are quite disorganized they also sell some imported stuff compressors etc.

There is another tool shop in Woking somewhere I seem to remember seeing on the net.

Why Woking are you based there ? I can recommend my local tool shop ETR in Ashford not far from Woking

Bunnys bolts are helpful and anything that is on there website they will have in stock (I think) Festool accessories are cheaper if you go in as they don't have to pay postage. They are down at Mayford on the way into Guildford. There is quite a good general tool shop in Godalming - Hunter Tools on the Brighton road. They are more automotive but do have a reasonable range of stuff. From Woking, D&M tools isnt' too far and has a great selection of woodworking and other tools.

Bunnys Bolts had great pricing on Festool accessories and I used them loads, but then their prices shot up to normal levels recently, so no longer such a good place to go from the price point of view.

They list every festool accessory on their site and order them in from Germany if not in stock, generally pretty speedy about it.

personally i'd make the trip to axminster at sittingbourne - okay so its over the kent border but if you can avoid the roaming bands of yokels with pitchforks standing in disorganised groups pointing at the traffic - its only a quick run round the M25 (outside of the rush hour obviously)

I just googled and its 70 miles from Woking to Sittingbourne so not far then :roll: :roll: :roll:

If you want to go to Axminster, its closer to High Wycombe, a lot closer.

ooops - i just checked where woking is on a map - it will come as no suprise to anyone that it isnt where i thought it was - this is especially embarassing as the path i manage goes through woking borough councils patch.

for some reason i was thinking it was where croydon is : :duno:

edit : :roll: grr - no actually the path i manage doesnt go anywhere near woking - I was thinking of wokingham that time

I think i'll shut up now before i embarass myself further

Hi

I live in Woking (nearly) and I can answer your question - No.

It's rubbish for tools, wood and even DIY sheds. I always buy tools on-line and shoot down to WL Wests at Petworth (easier to take the Midhurst Rd) when I want decent wood. OK, Petworth is a bit of a day out just to buy some wood, but lets face it a rummage through Wests sheds is a great day out...!

There is a tool shop in Aldershot in the High street I think they are called Birch & Hills, heading towards the town center from Ash they are on the RHS, if you pass Manor Park on the LHS you have just driven past the shop you can generally park outside the shop or close by in the road.I dont use them very much although they are quite well stocked along with a power tool repair service at the back of the shop. They have a sister shop in Kings Road Reading which is in the middle of a closing down sale (the Aldershot shop is not closing). What about Guildford? I brought my Record lathe from a well stocked tool shop called Messingers 13 years ago, they were at GU1 4HD.

Yeah they have a mafell dedicated website as well as the toolfest one.

Woking might be crap for tools but the surrounding areas have plenty of tool shops

I buy most of my tools online, or abroad (netherlands/germany) however sometimes you just need something right there and then, and do not want to loose to much time on traveling, buying tools is not a days out for me. it is a function, a necessity to do the job quicker,efficient and accurate
