Well i have finally started work on fixing the lathe to the floor and building round it,piccys to follow shortly :D
But i thought i would put my grinder in the space between the lathe and my bench.
Trouble is the space is where my control box goes,so came up with making a drop down bench for the grinder.
I haven't got a dedicated space for the grinder and am fed up of digging it out from under the bench when needed which is quite often.
I moved the bracket for the control box further to the right so it still reaches where i work on the lathe :D
So what do you think :!: It is just fixed with screws and seems fairly strong.Seems to be ok so far :?

Looks like a workable idea... I'd add a fishtail shaped piece ot the top of the table support to spread the load

C'mon Paul, you pinched my idea.

Top idea when short of space. I will be in the process of moving my workshop (read garage) around soon, and intended using the drop down table for my fixed grinder. Also putting my bandsaw on wheels so as I can run it in and out when needed.

Sick of dodging around everything, also I'm not the tidiest worker about  , so the more space the better.

Paul J, Great idea for grinder. I've had mine almost everywhere and still not happy with it. Any chance of posting some details of what you made stand out of and what gginding system you use. One of the rests looks like the Keith Rowley Or is it Chas's system any help appreciated. Regards Boysie.

Looks good from here. The number of people who are coming to your September bash you are going to need all the space you can get.

Thanks for the comments.
It does seem to be my only solution so i can keep the grinder sort of set up permanently.
Graham i will make it stronger.Again it was just a spur of the moment thingy, and i just made it this way for quickness to see if it would work.
So a mark 2 version will be coming soon :D
Boysie.
The jig on the right is the Robert Sorby sharpening system which i am still coming to terms with.Haven't really used it much up until now
The jig on the left is an home made one similar to Chas's.
Just 2 pieces of 18mm ply for the sides and a piece of Beech for the bed/table.It as a bolt going through so i can change the angle required.
