hi
i downloaded a program a short while ago called Dover design manager, i went to delete the program tonight but i cant find it in Add/remove programs, i am using xp home edition.

Steve. I use the free version of Revo Uninstaller, on Windows XP, for all uninstall jobs. It does a great job of cleaning both the registry and any other add hoc files left lying around. Both done with due warnings and seeking of permissions.

Have a look in the directory where it is installed there may be an uninstall program.

Also it may appear in the list under another name (e.g. if looking for Firefox, youu would find it under M for Mozilla firefox)

I find that these 'reg-fix' programs tends to make my PC misbehave so I avoid them like the plague.

When I have a program I can't remove, I go into programs to find the program folder itself. If there's no uninstaller, I just delete the folder.

I can't recommend this, as it can louse up your system altogether. So far I have been lucky. But having back-ups and the means to format and reinstall Windows I am not too bothered.

That was what I loved about Windows 98. You could reinstall the OS without worrying about formatting the disc. With XP it isn't that easy. The slightest trace of an antivirus program stops the reinstall in its tracks.

It's called progress!

John :)

John, I agree with you entirely about 'Reg-Fix' programs. This program is basically an uninstaller which reports on the associated reg keys and asks if they should be removed. Ok! it is still possible to louse things up, isn't it always. All I will say is that I have been using it for all my 'UnInstalls' for nearly 12 months, on average three or five a month, and have not had a problem. Perhaps I have been very lucky.

Mose,

I downloaded it too. Thanks for the link. Not installed it yet, but next time I have some junk to get rid of I will install it.

Regards John :D

Get Crap Cleaner, free program. And it shifts all the junk but nothing important.

Go into Program Files and delete your problem program then run Crap Cleaner. The Issues tab cleans all the crap from your registry. I run it once a week, and have done for several years.

I don't know if you have already done this or know of this

when I want something uninstalled, first go add-remove programs, delete it, then I use the Search, I put every name that is associated with that program, leave any trace and it wont be uninstalled, delete what search has found, make sure it's set on all files and folders especially hidden one's,

Then I go into the registry, Go to start then Run' type in the box 'Regedit'
All your registry programs will come up, click on HKEY Current Users, drop down will appear, look for the program delete it, look down list for Software, click on it , then look for program in there also, delete it

I find these uninstaller software/programs you can get download, they delete and move about and rename things and cause lots of little things to go wrong with computers
and cause hassle and slowdowns, they conflict with other programs.
