hi all got some seeds off a minature jap maple. can these be grown if so how do i go about it thanks andy

Most probably no. Most japanese maples (Acer palmatum) are cultivars and as such will not come true from seeds. In other words, they will not share the same characteristics as their parent plant. You will probably find that you are unable to get the seeds to germinate anyway. Cultivars are normally propagated by grafting or softwood cuttings.

I too would give it a go. If the parent plant is not grafted then the seeds should come true to type.
First of all, put them in the freezer compartment of your fridge for about a month or so. Acer seeds need to be subject to frost to make them viable.
Then sow in ericaceous compost (if you have any) and cover thinly with sharp sand. Then just place the pot outside and wait!!
We have had some amazing sucesses with them - we've also had some failures - but they didn't cost you anything!
We have four Acers growing in our garden at the moment that were raised from seeds.
Good luck
