So as you can clearly see, neither garage nor conversion. However in order to satisfy the CFO thus enabling the garage conversion, certain obligations had to first be met.
Don’t hate on the kit form pergola, it was almost cheaper than just the felt
And so finally I was able to set to with the garage conversion.
For speed and cost I decided on 2” x 3” C16 joists for the walls and frame and C24 for the flooring. Frame fixed to the bricks and concrete.
Fortunately whoever built the garage originally had the foresight to install a DPM under the concrete.
So, I opted to retain the garage door but build a stud wall and seal up. In case I ever need to sell the house.
Floor and wall joists at 400mm centres to suit plasterboard and flooring.
If this thread is of any interest I will continue to post its progress. However, it has been slowed by an appendectomy on my part. This of course coincided with the arrival of the PIR insulation…
Thanks to all on here who recommended Seconds and Co, bargain
Good idea with leaving the door. I saw one where the left the garage door and walled across about 1.5m back leaving a storage space for bikes and stuff.

John
I did the 1/3rd storage - 2/3rds workshop approach with my garage. I replaced the up an over door with side hinged, opening out doors. Gave me a ton of room in the ceiling for storage.
