g-plan table refurb

I'm in the middle of refurbishing three G plan coffee tables. old varnish removed with card scrapers and abranet (which doesn't clog like sandpaper and leaves a nicer finish), smoothed with steel wool, and oiled with good ol' Colron danish oil
btw: I couldn't get any Colron a few weeks ago so I got some Rustin's instead... unimpressed. maybe I'm doing something wrong but it's not as good

I've refinished 3 or 4 G-Plan nests of tables in the last few months (as well as other G-Plan and similar MCM furniture) - I've just sanded with Abranet, cleaned with tack cloth, wiped over with the tinnest coat of matching stain and then just used a Fiddes wax oil as the finish to give the original effect - Danish oil or varnish/polish of any sort just makes them too shiny.

bestwood make a really good danish oil that I can highly recommend.

the customer specified danish oil as they want a shiny surface. I buff the surface between coats with pine shavings - they have just the right abrasion to take off the nibs and any specks of dust
