Why are all machines standard colours? A friend of mine is looking to sell a few of his machines and is contemplating having them re-powder coated. He’s thinking about having them painted funky colours. My initial reaction was horror......who would buy a saw which wasn’t one of the traditional colours......anyway after a little mulling I thought that I would actually like something that isn’t the standard boring, white, blue, green etc. What’s everyone view?

I wouldn't have minded if my bandsaw had pink with hello kitty wrote on it..
if its the right machine for a deal it makes little difference.
I chose to go a slightly lighter grey than what Griggio have on their machines, as it
makes a difference on the brightness of the room.
Make sure its gloss paint if you do paint it, as grease and dust will stick to a good heavy paint job.
especially Lowe's nice light grey primer
I was contemplating making a tablesaw light yellow/green like what Claas machinery has, and may do, come the winter.
A tall Pentz cyclone would impact on light, I've seen a few bright yellow ones that look
cheery like big bird is in the room
I can't find the nice yellow cyclone I was talking about, only horrible Onedia dark yellow, completely different.
It might end up looking like a fruit salad though if you were to go a bit mad though

Paint them like an original if he wants to flog them. Wild colours will put off most buyers. If he wants wild hod rod pearlescent pinstriped machines for himself the have at it. Done right it would look cool.

I used to have toolboxes with large pink and orange sunbursts on them to make the noticeable if I was relieved of them.
Martin Machinery in Germany jazzed up a T75 Table Saw - Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but I quite like it.

My take on machinery has always been paint it light colours.
If there's an oil leak, or the operator is a lazy a** who doesn't keep his machine clean, I want to know about it ASAP.

A graffiti paint job would hide these problems for weeks, but totally worth it just for the style

Agreed the saw/paint job looks sweet, might clash with "ye olde style" shop theme goin on,
if you have any...but so would something that's not in traditional colours, I suppose ?
Waiting with intrigue, hopefully to be proved wrong.
