Folks,

Prompted by JamesB's thread I have decided to put Stewart system up for sale.

All in good working order (not that there is much you can break on this thing!). £200 was the new price and I negotiated the arm brace rather than the straight handle which is far more comfortable to use and is normally £40 extra. So, looking for £125.

Will be happy to post at cost (but it is quite heavy). I live in Nailsworth, Glos. (GL6)

No one interested?

eBay on Sunday so last chance here first.

Go on, make me an offer!

which post was that (prompted by JamesB's post)?

I assume you have all the instructions etc?

What are all the "missing" parts - the mouldings in the case which have nothing in them?

Miles,

If you go back a page or two, JamesB posted regarding getting into hollowing and asked for advice on tooling - thus my memory was jogged that I had this kit (without wishing to start a gloat thread - a duplicate) that could go to a good home.

Regarding the 'spaces' I think at the time the box was pressed to take all variants including the arm brace and straight handles. As I indicated in the earlier post, I persuaded them to include the arm brace rather than the straight handle which I found uncomfortable to use. The other item that could be included are an extension bar that extends the reach into next door's garage and the chatter tool holder (a useful but I always thought strange addition to the kit). I think the final item is a diamond file - I am sure I could find one for someone if it was a deal breaker!

All the above items are available individually as spares from Sorby although I would thought a local engineering co could provide them at a fraction of the cost as they are only 3/4 bar with sleeves welded on.

Let me know if you need any more info / photos.

Off to eBay with it!

Item No. 170307067215 if anyone is still interested.

Would love to have it but that's about 100 times more than I'd like to pay. :D I watch turning tools sail past my budget on eBay, I'm certain you'll get a good price on there.

Thanks for the note Wizer - I do understand where you are coming from.

I do think hollowing tools in general are over priced. Very few are much other than a bit of bent bar stock that required very little in terms of engineering precision to manufacture.

I know that overheads exist and have to be distributed over a smaller volume but perhaps the price point is to blame in part for this volume?

Anyway, perhaps this is a little deep (no pun intended)!

I think George may be on the right lines - some nice and very useful tools and even if you had to buy all the kit to do it, you would at least break even on a commercial tool and you will always have the kit to make other items after.

Thanks again for the note and happy turning!

Simon
