This is posted specifically for Mike R who put a little bit on the Blokeblog saying that he quite liked these little boxes, even tho' I'm totally hacked off with them, the rest of the forum don't have to look. This is the very last box I'm going to do (for a while ) in the same spalted sycamore that Chisel let me have in the summer (not much left now). It's a little pencil box for my son at Uni that he can put on his desk...it's not designed to go into the student sack for lectures.... half-eaten kebabs don't do the finish a lot of good  Anyway, spalted sycamore finished with a couple of coats of matt acrylic with some wax over the top, base thin teak veneered ply:

and it opens so:

Promise...no more boxes. Finish Big Woodie and then it's Elm Chest MkII - Rob

Sorry I'm a bit of a box fetishist... Very neat and tidy Rob:) But you've obviously never come across the chilli sauce finish. Usually found coating all surfaces on a Sunday morning. I have several piles of spalted this and that, if you're giving up on the boxes for a while I might have to see if I can catch up.

cheers Mike

Nice box, I like the proportions and the lid...I wonder if it might have looked better with squarded corners, any reasons why you went for round?

Its great though :D

Matt - couldn't be bothered to square out the corner  it's as it came from the router bit...base is the same - Rob

Blimey Rob, sure managed to get a lot out of a small parcel of wood, was amazed you had enough to do Meg's jewellery box let alone this as well !!!

Looks good.

Cheers, Paul. :D
