Gill. Many thanks for the Olsen blades you very kindly sent me. I was impressed. I have used a range of the sizes you sent and very pleased with the results. I kept tensing myself ready for one would break but they never did. The underside of the cuts I made were very clean and the edges very smooth in 20mm thick hardwood. I think my favourite will have to be the Mach blades and will orderding some from your supplier. I must to confess making a mistake on one of the double toothed blades. I looked at the tooth configuration by holding it up to the window to establish what way was up and clamped it up. Started cutting and thought to myself why did people buy these blades when it was so difficult to stay on the line. I then realised it was upside down. Doh. A quick change soon sorted it out. I must say that they cut equally as fast as the FD blades I have been using for years.

Once again Gill, many thanks for your kindness.

I think I will be trying some new blades to, the FD blades just don't seem to stay sharp for long now, don't know if they have changed their methods..

Can you let me know Geoff what you thought was good and where to get them from, thank you..

Hi Steve. I don't know what it is but the FD blades are not the same as they once were. They lack the quality now. I was very pleased with the Olsen blades, they are silver and appear to be made from stainless steel so a bit slippery when tightening the clamp. If I were to use an FD blade until it got blunt then the Olsen blades last about as long.. I have been using European oak the last few days, 20mm thick and as it was kiln dried it was very hard but the olsen blades went through it no trouble at all and the blade stayed easily on the line of the patterns.

I am expecting a few gross of FD blades in the next couple of days and if they are like the previous lot then I wont use them again. The olsen blades are from the teddy bear company in America, the company that produce many wonderful patterns. I have not looked yet but I would suspect they are a bit dearer than the FD blades. I wont mind paying extra as I know they will wear out before they break and for me that's a big bonus. If you get some Steve your comments would be much appreciated.

Geoff
Glad you are happy with the couple of blades I sent :D I would agree with your favourite, the mach blades are brilliant, I think #3 is the smallest size they do, so I usually use the reverse tooth blades for the finer ones, as I said my most frequently used blades are the reverse tooth #2/0 and the #3 mach ones
As far as the price goes, I can't remember on comparison, but they are certainly a lot cheaper than buying from the UK. the wooden teddybear have always delivered well, and they only charge what it actually costs them to post, and so far in my experience, they have been less than the postage quoted. The first order may be a little more expensive on postage because I believe they have a policy of always including a brochure in your first order, but still cheaper than I was paying for delivery for the same blades in the UK!?

fingers crossed that your next delivery of FD blades are back up to standard, I once got a pack of a dozen olsen blades that seemed to have twist in them all, so I guess it can happen that a batch goes wrong
