Flat bottom?

Hi

Ive been making a couple of bowls, after finishing i cant quite get a flat bottom, always a slight wobble on the base ( reverse chucked base) if that makes a difference!

Whats the best way to ensure of getting a completely flat bottom on a bowl?

Short answer is "Don't make a flat bottom" it will never stay flat as the wood moves with the climate changes.

Always make the base slightly concave or with a prominent rim bead.

A truly flat bottom is really hard to achieve IME. As Chas says, either make it concave or make a rimmed bottom when making the original tenon.
