I would like some advice please on fitting carpet to stone stairs. We have an old Victorian house with Yorkshire stone stairs. I have bought some cheap latex backed runners ( https://www.dunelm.com/product/herringbone-jute-border-stair-runner-1000200042 ) and am not sure the best way to attach them to the stairs. I am concerned that grippers would shred the latex. The fitting advice offered by the shop is to staple them, but obviously that is not going to work with stone. Would a double stick method be suitable in this situation?
Thanks, Andy

A spray contact adhesive would likely also work but would be a total pain to remove from the stone in the future.
