This is my first turning using the meths drying process.
The bowl on the left was dried using meths and the other one left to dry naturally in my workshop. No heating.
Both have been left for 3 weeks, and according to my cheapo moisture meter reading the meths one was 12% the other 14%.
Both were off the scale before i started the process at 24%+
Both pieces are from one log split in half.
The meths one seemed to give a better finish when turning :?:
Now that i have cut the rest of the logs up that i've got i will try with bigger pieces next time :D
Hope this is of some interest.

Both pieces are 4" dia x 1-1/2 deep.Still don't know what the timber is though it turned nice :D

Do I detect a distinct colour difference, in the two pieces, the meths one much darker?

When you say the meths one finished better, was it because it was harder?

I find most woods shrink to a denser texture when speed dried with meths.

Hello Chas.
Sorted the piccy. :D
Yes Chas the meths one is slightly darker, and yes the meths one was slightly harder too, though this one also seemed to clog the sandpaper more :?:
