Hi all
Finally got some time in the 'shop yesterday. Made some slimlines, including a nice yew one for loml's birthday and a fountain pen:

The fountain pen was a bit trickier than slimlines - I'm not sure if the bushings I bought with it were right as the centre bushing didn't fit inside the brass tube of the lid - and I managed to destroy two blanks before I finally got it right with this olive one.

Slimlines are ok but this is nice! The slope beckons...

Looks very classy! :D

The finished piece proves it was worth persevering - will we be seeing more ?

Andrew

Hi Stewart, great looking pen and nice finish, makes you feel good when it all works out right, where do you get your kits from?
Keep up the good work :D

Thanks, Boysie and Thomas

I really did enjoy it when I got it right at the third attempt! The kit came from The Turners Workshop - have ordered another 5 as they are on offer at the moment at £3.45 each, so not too expensive to screw up a few times. Web site is www.theturnersworkshop.co.uk

Stewart, The Turners Workshop have some good kits I ordered a few the other week, and got a free blank!!
Sorry Vulthoom have been playing with the camara and Photobucket
Thomasb ( John really) :D

thats a cracker stewart, do me a favour and turn the pen around and re-shoot it, looks much better when you can see the nib too, and stand the cap at the side.

Thanks, Vulthoom.

Steve - hmm...another learning slope: pen photography! Hope these fit the bill - still a lot to learn as the blutak gets in the shot....

Need brighter light!! (Also you can see the scratches I've somehow made on the nib assembly...

Very nice work there. You need to angle the nib towards the camera a little and try to set the focus on the nib. Put the lid near to the pen just back from the nib.

That'll be lovely darling... ;)

blimey, taking the picture is harder than making the pen! I'll have a go again today in the daylight so I can use a smaller aperture and get more of it in focus...but then I do have a free day as my school has been closed :D :D :D

Final photos! I might have to make a semi-permanent set up if I really get into this....

Next time I'll take the pictures before I've scratched the nib holder!

fantastic photo, really shows off your work! :D

You must have a good camera to match you good pen, top photos, like the idea of the mirror.

Now that I do like. Probably because to my jaundiced eye it looks much classier as a fountain pen. Clever idea with the mirror as well.

Pete

Thanks for the kind feedback! Feel free to nick the mirror idea - I did!
