Thought it was time to try something constructive after all my practice . Decided to try Mark's Palm Crosses , Ihad some 19mm MDF and 9mm so I made a few of each .The 19mm is 70mm x 50 mm
The 9 mm one is 60 mm x 45 mm. . I am happy with my first efforts and hope to improve with my next lot for which I will use some Spalted Beech . what do you think :?: :?: .

Looks like you are cut out for the hobby Eugene, take care with that MDF dust, you don't need another problem to deal with.

Thanks Chas. I think it's going to be a while before I make an attempt at a Jigsaw or the Eiffel Tower ,but at least I have something to brighten up the days . I would prefer not to use MDF re dust but I have pretty good precautions in place when using. I am going to get me some real wood tomorrow after the Docs. have had their weekly poke about . Onwards and Onwards I hope .

=D> looks like a good start to me, if you are pleased then thats the main thing, it can only get better..
regards.. Ted..

Well done Eugene. Its nice to see you have made a start. Keep the first things you make and then at a later date you can look back on your first projects and compare them to other items. I think you said you were getting some plywood, that would be a lot easier and safer to cut than MDF. When i first started on the scroll saw I used small squares of plywood to practice on and filled up a couple of bin bags with designer sawdust. Keep at it Eugene, practice makes perfect as they say.

looking good eugene you might want to try cutting a pattern out there is lots on the internet a good one thats free is called arpop type in google and it will come up , the plans are pdf files to download there is loads of stuff on there , a lot of it is traditional scroll saw stuff and american type but i sure there would be something on there for you to try ? ita a matter of looking around for ideas or plans what i usually do is see something and then adapt or enhance it or simply get some inspiration

i think there is a key holder on there that looks pretty straight forward for you to try . thats assuming you can download and print your stuff on computer.

anothger thing you can do is have a look in craft shops etc for inspiration or ideas to get your creative juices flowing

Good to hear from you again Geoff , I was hoping to get some birch ply yesterday but was delayed and it was too late when I got back. But I am gearing up to make a raid on my supplier this morn. so will be in full practice mode over the weekend. Take care Geoff.

Thanks Mark , always good to get your helpful advice I got delayed yesterday so only read posts this morning . I am off on a trip to get some Birch Ply and while it's been cut I will take a look in the craft shops .
I will check out the web site later. If I wasn't so bloddy sore after yesterday I would be skipping me way into town . Will give you a ring over the weekend . Have a good one.
