this was a pig.
Ugly to look at.
Ugly to use.
A few ugly repairs.
The wedge looked ugly as well.
It was a washer.
A good sanding and balancing of the shaft.
The finish here is a brunt look. A flash over with an open flame gives a different look.
Boiling the head in Citric acid.
The edge was heated to cherry red, plunged into cold salted water.
Cleaned up and tempered to a blue colour.
This gives a good edge.
The closest thing to a power tool I used.
The shaft hole was deformed to the point of almost splitting.
I reshaped it as best I could, but voids will always be pressent.
This two pack resing kit fills and voids and adds extra strength to the head.
The depth here is nor more than 3mm. The heat does not do any damage.
Done.
The edges are sharp, the shaft is balanced and the tool lives on.
