finish for an oak floor

Hi all,

Have just laid a solid oak floor and wanted peoples views on the best type of finish. Was going to use tung oil but not sure this is going to be the best option. For one I can't exactly walk over the floor wiping off any excess. Also I was wanting something with a lighter looking finish.

The floor needs to be able to take a fair bit of wear and tear and the odd spillage from the kids no doubt.

Any ideas?

Hi Kev,
I've used Osmo polyx oil satin matt on my oak floors and is proving to be OK been down a couple of months you can get 125ml samples from http://www.wood-finishes-direct.com

welcome to the forum by the way, you may find the matt statin a bit glossy for a large floor so use the matt
