I've never done this (although my comb-style jig supposedly can), but I have made a router-table jig with small success.
Steve Maskery put a how-to on YouTube a while back for doing it on a RT (use YT search - can't remember the URL, sorry), and it definitely works, but I found the devil was in the detail.
A good backing board is essential to minimise tearout, otherwise you'll get something that fits well and is mechanically strong but looks nasty (DAMHIKT!). Because of the way the cutter works, it's trickier than you might think. I suspect a spiral bit would help a lot, but haven't yet bought one (I should).
