What filter bags do these take (I do not seem to find them online), and can you also put more long lasting filter cartridges on them

so its just the standard brown paper bags that will fit?

To the best of my knowledge, yes. I haven't had to buy any extra for my DX4000 yet but mine just has paper bags that look exactly like those I linked to. A quick call to Record with the model number there should confirm.

My DX4000 has twin filter cartridges, each covered in the normal brown paper filter bag, and also a seperate filter cloth that acts before the cartridges/bags. I only ever take the cloth out and beat it to clean, never had to replace the rest as they appear still to be virtually as new despite several years of hobbyist use.

The DX1500 (?) I have though doesn't have the cloth pre-filter and there the paper bag needs cleaning off with every emptying session and then replacing every now and then when worn/torn. The cartridge again hasn't needed changing itself.

DOn't know if any of that helps?!!!

Cheers, Paul

I replace the brown bags every 3-4 months, the cartridges every year and just beat the big elasticated pre-filter every time I empty!

That is with 5 of 7 days continuous use though, and using with a belt sander and fretsaw. So fairly fine dust

I seem to remember a few years ago you used to be able to get a better quality higher grade/lower micron filter from record, not sure if you still can but worth a phone call if you're lazy with your dust protection.
