hope you have great fun with it JT, need any help mate you know where i am.

The grain pattern on the platinum olive one is lovely.

You are definitely getting this off to a fine art Steve. All of them are really attractive. I also prefer the look of the olive because of the graining.

Still not tempted to try them though.

Glad to see you are back into turning mood Steve, just make sure you don't run out of kits.

Failed with the 'photos ?, personally I don't think so, this is a wood hobby forum not a photographic one and they are adequate in my book. Be different if they were intended for a high end gallery presentation but they're not.

Olive wood is one of my favorites for figuring but as they say 'it doesn't grow on trees' not around here anyway.

I think if I was using those kits to form the broader shaft pen I would turn an alternate contrasting larger diameter centre ferule to keep the waist line continuous.

Nothing wrong with the pictures!
And the pens are very nice, but I think the keyrings are absolutely wonderful little items - lovely timbers, with great figuring, colouring, and a lovely warmth to them :D

With the comfort pen the centreband is larger than both ends, and it is possible to do away with the centreband altogether by leaving the top half longer, but i prefer the platinum one, but you never know i may just try it, still got some kits and wood left yet.

many thanks guys for all the comments, i never know what the photos look like on others monitors, they look a bit rubbish on mine.

just to inform people that while turning the cocobola keyring i managed to pick up an allergy to the wood. I came out in a rash around the elbows, neck, chest and nose and my left eye went slightly swollen.
I have taken anti hystermine tablets and all is ok now, but i wont use cocobola again, its a shame, i love the wood.

Some great turning there Steve. I too am taken by the olive pen must get some and have a turn. The acrylic looks good but not my favorite material to turn

Strange the woods that affect people. Glad you have got over it Steve. Watch out for others as well as some people seem to develop ongoing allergies to different woods. I'd avoid Iroko for sure and be acreful with yew. They seem to be the two most common ones for causing problems.
