Festool domino xl Seneca Woodworking adapter

I am thinking of buying a domino xl and then trying to get hold of the Seneca adapter to allow you to use the domino 500 cutters. Has any one had any experience using these adapters with the xl? Has anyone manged to buy them in the UK anywhere.

I wonder if it really does work that we'll with the really small cutters.

The price of the adaptor ($69.95) is absolutely crazy even by Festool standards.
I could machine that up in 20 minutes using a pound's worth of metal.
Don't know how much it would cost to get it hardened, or if it even needs to be.
