Hi,

I have a kitchen job coming up where I need to make face frames, flat panel doors etc So I was thinking of getting a Domino, any ideas where has the best price or is any one selling one (wizer  ) can't imagine any one will sell one but if you don't ask...

Thanks Pete, I'll keep my eye on those.

I could do with another Domino to save me the bother of changing cutters when I need a different size...

Seriously, the Dom is invaluable for face frames - for doors though, it's quicker just to machine a tenon on the end of the rails to fit into the groove of the stiles. Or use loose tenons a la Jason B.

Nice offer Steve.

Pete I think I'd be taking that one up  it will save you hundreds of pounds, you get some help ( which is always good ) and more importantly ( to me anyway ) some company.........I hate working alone.

That said, if you'll use it I suspect you wont regret it, my instinct would say get a new one, you don't know any tool history off Ebay, but if you think it's a genuine seller, they're built so well, you know it's going to last, worst case you can always send it to Festool for an inspection ( but you get no warranty on used items )

And if you're thinking of geting one soon, Toolsave are doing a Systainer full of Doms for £99..........or at least they were the other day ?

Cheers

Jed

I've bought a fair bit of Festool stuff recently and would strongly advise you shop around - they are discounts to be had - especially if you add bits on!
Expect at a minimum 5% off you purchase price plus some freebies thrown in. Think I paid £730 for my Domino with the systainer/domino/cutter set and extra pack of free dominos.
Tom at Miles machinery is nice to deal with.

Hey, time's money, right? ;)

Know what you mean about the doors though; I've been Dom-ing mine since I had it, but always used to use loose tenons (a la JasonB's other thread) and whilst I've always assumed the Dominoed door will be stronger (25mm of Domino vs 14mm of loose tenon in each side of the joint) I certainly haven't had any failures using the old method...

Cheers, Pete

I love working on my own. The trouble is I rarely get the chance. People keep 'popping in'.

Hi, Chaps

Thanks for the advice.

Steve

It looks like 20 doors and quite a few face frames so that might be a bit to much, don't think its fare to use yours so much.

With a bit of luck I make enough to ease the purchase of one.
