I'll be ready to start building my new kitchen in the new year. If I use the adjustable plastic feet/legs you can buy from any diy store, will they be strong enough for solid granite worktops. I like the adjustable idea to allow for levelling the units. Thanks (Merry Christmas to everyone reading this)

tsb, I would say they are meant to level up the units, but not sound enough to hold the units long term......ie once the units are in place and level with each other fix them to the wall/each other for strength.

I have a "free" standing unit on these type of legs nothing substantial to fasten it to ,and am forever adjust the level of the feet to keep it from looking out of square.

ive seen some very expensive kitchens with granite worktops all of them have "standard" adjustable legs with no additional support.

as suggested linking units and screwing them to the wall helps

Woodfit do an adjustable leg that is a bit more substantial than a lot of the legs that the sheds do. I've used them on granite topped units, tall units with two ovens & warming draws etc no problems.

Just ensure that part of the mounting plate is supporting the carcase side not just the base.

The plastic feet are good at supporting downward loads, but not so good at shear forces, so when you've fitted them it pays to have help turning the carcass right side up, so that you don't use the legs as levers - they'll often snap under those circumstances.

how about use the legs and fit as normal kitchen then cut some blocks of wood to slide ubder to give aditinal suporrt

Hi,
I have about 60 of these adjustable feet surplus to requirements, if you want them you can have them for nowt, that goes for anyone, just pm me.

Yes plastic legs will be fine with granite as long as you do fix the units to the wall which I am sure you were going to do anyway.

If you have a freestanding island unit then it pays to have end and back panels right to the floor to give stability but this is the case even if you had chipboard worktops.
