I'm looking into buying an extractor atm, from what I've come across the startrite ones seem to be best value. I was looking at these, the MDE HCS or HCT.

Do any of the forum users have one, if so are they any good? would you buy it again?

Any recommendations on a good extractor for 4 saws, planer, thicknesser and lathe?

Cheers,
Donald

Looks like it has a lot of suck, 3000m3 from 2HP. I note that there are machines out there with bigger motors, say 3HP that create a lower airflow, how is it that Startrite can get so much suction from their unit? Not questioning that they do, just interested in how they do it.

Terry.

I have the cx2600 , bought 2nd hand or £50 ,
it SUCKS!!!!

-Like a total champ, it is rather loud , actually loader than my P/T but it really does suck really well and build quality also is rather nice.

Well if that's the case Donald better hold on to his hat as the Startrite has almost three times the flow of the cx2600!

I'm going round in circles trying to decide on a chip collector at the moment.

I'm using a SIP bucket one for the table saw, radial arm, bandsaw etc. and a wickes vac on a cyclone for the router table and ower tools, basically everything except the planer thicknesser.

I have a .75kw axminster extractor used with a scheppach hmi260 but it just doesn't have enough power. I'm thinking of getting a 2hp fox extractor or a 3hp sip extractor for pulling stuff out of that and probably using a drop bin in between. Can anyone recommend either of those extractors - would 3hp be best? Can get a 2hp fox for £229 or a 3hp sip for £286.

I have the MDE-HSE, it runs a 160mm central duct with 120mm take offs that are after the blast gates down to 100mm. It pulls everything I could want adequately. The biggest chip generator is a Sedgwich 16" P/T which runs off 120mm and it pulls perfectly. The only criticism if there is one is that a single bag is really not enough capacity for anything other than hobby woodworking. At some point I will get a two bag system.
