Exciting times

Well for the first time in a long while I'm genuinely excited, putting in an offer on a house tomorrow.
Nice plot, 1 acre, house is rubbish, planning granted to rebuild in the garden then demolish.
Can't afford it, don't care, will get money from somewhere..........
No idea how to go about building a house........

wish me luck guys, early days, no certainties and all that.
I'll start a demolish and build thread if I get it.

PS. any builders about?

If I had the opportunity I would build a Passive house. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive_house

They say if it's done well you would need no more than a hair dryer to heat the entire house.

Just build it yourself Bob, you'll be horrified if you saw how long some builds took - especially when their having a big fancy basement.

I truly wish you luck. Having got permission to build a house in the garden of our existing house for us to retire into we are on the verge of forgetting the whole thing.

Sounds exciting bob, Something that I would like to do in the future really. Have you thought about prefab houses or a timber framed house. Could allow the construction to go up a bit faster as well.

We are in the process of buying a property at the moment and im hoping to put in for planning permission to do a side extension.

Build thread would be ace on a project like this. Wish the best of luck

Still waiting to see if the guy is going to sell for the offer price. I think he is hoping it will be a bidding war for it, but there won't if someone offers higher I will have to withdraw as the money tree is bare...............

No, the existing house is semi habitable / derelict, so we will rebuild in the garden then knock down. should be interesting.
