For those who have not recieved the Classic Hand Tools newsletter, here is the bit on the European Woodworking Show.

Judging by the unsolicited comments received it would appear that the inaugural European Woodworking Show held recently at Cressing Temple Barns
was a big success. Whilst not yet cast in stone the provisional date for 2010 is Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 October.

The show will be expanded to feature more demonstrators including pole lathe turning, wheel wrighting, long bow making, horse logging, more workshop machinery, musical instrument making and woodturning demonstrators of international repute. Quality will not be sacrificed for quantity as we aim to make this a very diverse woodworking show that focuses heavily on the best available demonstrators and the best tools.

That sounds fantastic! Tho, the date is a little peculiar, it's going to be a few weeks later. I'd have preferred it earlier in the year tbh. I don't think it would have been quite so good if the weather had turned.

Still looking forward to it tho! ;)

I share your concerns with the proposed date although, I'd suspect this could have something to do with their scheduling. CHT have a number of shows to do around August/September time. As this was the debut for the European Woodworking Show, perhaps they found things were a bit too congested?

Early Octember would suit me better, but as Tom says, it's more iffy with the weather the later it's left. Might need to break out get the wellies- Rob

The barns are big enough to get some more stall holders in, for sure. But it was nice walking around outside with the select few stalls and displays outside. If it was raining I think I'd spend less time outside. Tho that'd mean more time inside where all the tools where :-k

I'm sure Olly's right, it's to do with scheduling, either on CHT's part or the Barns themselves.

Looking forward to seeing more turning demos.

That really does sound great.

Although, I agree on the weather front, if it had been raining at last months do the demo by the axeman, the beer and catering stalls would have been washed out.

Perhaps the answer is a large marque, but that would be very expensive.

Tony.
