Excellent.

Sod's law of course says that of the three induction motors in my workshop, two are 1/4hp or 180W (small metalwork lathe and small pillar drill), which isn't in the table on page 2 :)

Thanks for your hard work

Just use the conversion factor in the text, 1hp =750 watts

Outstanding work Bob, thanks for putting in all the effort to compile this. I can see it becoming pretty much the standard reference on the subject. It's certainly in my bookmarks already.

9fingers,

Sir, very well done.

Reading your draft took me right back, Bradford Technical College, early 1970's, Hughs Electrical Technology Fourth Edition. Now why did I 'lone' that book out?

I am not qualified to comment technically as I drifted out of the 'heavy side' and into electronics. However I find the style confident and pleasingly easy to read, as others have said I can see this work becoming a web based standard text.

Well done again. I look forward to reading your future work. Thank you for putting in all the effort and time which must have been involved.

Chris,

Nice saw! So that will likely have a 3hp motor then? Can you tell if it has a dual voltage motor or not? Either the rating plate or the terminal block should tell you.

Nicely done Bob, looking forward to the next editions.

xy's mention of Hughs had me looking upwards to my bookshelf, I have the 6th edition so I wasnt the one to borrow yours
