I have recently picked up an Elu router and table MOF96. What a strange contraption that is !! Have finaly worked out what and where all the pieces go. The router is a lovely piece of kit, very nicely made, but, I don`t have a manual for it.So, does anybody have a copy they could spare me,please ?
In hope and anticipation,
Frank.

When Dewalt bought Elu the MOF96 was rebadged in lovely yellow :? and is now the DW613 and the service parts are the same as far as I know. I have a MOF96 that I bought in 1982 and is on its 3rd bearing!

For small jobs, I reckon the little Elu table is unbeatable. Dust extraction is difficult, but JenSmith of this forum has done a neat job on her table.
It's always puzzled me why other tables don't use the same router mounting - that is, using the fence bars. That way, the weight of the router is suspended some distance from the hole, so the top can be relatively thin. And with the addition of the fine fence adjuster on the Elu, you can get very precise adjustment, much better than adjusting the fence. Or am I missing something?

I have two of these routers, both bought cheaply since they are 110V.
Does anyone know if you can get spares for them since the speed control on one of them is faulty (full speed only, but still soft-starts).
Also are replacement collets available as both are badly worn,
Cheers

Elu parts here and several other places

If the slow start is working then a lot of the electronics are working. Before shelling out lots of cash, check first that the speed control knob has not broken off and that the magnet on the end of the shaft has not come off or lost its magnetism. Check with a little compass that the needle swings round when you turn the shaft.

I am not too sure of the order of things but I think that Elu were taken over by Black & Decker who where then taken over by Dewalt who have now been taken over by Stanley
Stanley trade in brand names and customer service

Close but not quite as I remember it.

I was branch manager of a company in the late eighties and we were distributors for B&D professional division which then owned both Elu and DeWalt as well as selling a number of trade spec B&D branded stuff. It was assembled in their factory in Spennymoor, Co Durham in those days and was decent stuff at the time.

Can't remember any of the take over dates prior to that and I wasn't aware of the later link to Stanley. I thought the power division of Stanley had gone bust as I well remember the closure of the power tool factory in Cramlington, Northumberland many years ago.

cheers

Trust me Stanley took over Dewalt in 2009 and therefore Black & Decker and Elu by default.

Wasn't doubting you at all but having been out of the industry for 20 years it had passed me by. Just expressing surprise that's all. :)

The B&D stuff I do know about as I used to order the stuff and deal with the factory and the reps. I also visited the factory a number of times.

Those were the days though. we used to sell a hell of a lot of Elu 96/e and 177/e especially.
