Having spent many years in powertrain test and development I would AVOID like snake oil. I do not trust many remapping businesses either because if you have seen the complexity of the calibration files in modern ECU's and have some understanding then you realise there will be consequences. In many cases there are two calibration files, one for normal use and the other for regen. There are also many parameters derived from hours on a test bed that have a lot of interactions that many will not realise, some are for durability and protection of your engine.

As above, avoid. You are not going to get adaptive ECU remapping on the fly from that small box at that low cost. I suspect it's an OBD2 connector with a LED on it. What you are buying is marketing budget.

Lose some weight from your right foot, quicker and cheaper.

My mate bought a box to attach to his Disco 3 TDV6 diesel. He swore blind that it improved power (which it did) and reduced fuel consumption. He got a little bit annoyed at my cynicism that it could do both, showing me the better average MPG on the display.

After some research, I found out the trick - it simply fooled the engine into overfuelling slightly, making it think it was putting less fuel per stroke than it actually was. So it gave more power, but of course the MPG calculation is based on the same figures, so since the fuel measurement was off, so was the MPG.
