Any reviews from users? Looking for something smallish as my workshop is a little crowded. i was thinking along the lines of the Record Power range.

Hi,
Fo;;owing the sudden and recent death of my Dyson vac I had to choose what to replace it with between the Trend T30 and RecordRSDE2. I already have an SIP for the table saw and other 4inch outlets which serves me well so my needs were mainly for router etc.
With long lead and hose the Trend did it for me and I am very pleased with it.
At the end of the day it does depend on what your main requirements are for. Hope this helps.

I have both Record and Trend as well as some orther brands I use regualrly in the workshop and they're all pretty good in terms of collection.
The one thing that often seems to get overlooked and the manufacturers tend not to say much about this either, is the noise level.
Some brands are much quieter than others and in a small workshop the noise level is very important.
Look for one at around 60db, over 70 in a small shop is very uncomfortable.

Hi tiler99,

Welcome to the forum. :D

As has already been said the type of tool your collecting the dust from affects the choice of machine. I have a home made cyclone that is used for the stationary machines and B&Q vacuum that has a power take off that I use with the portable hand tools. The B&Q vac is noisy compared to the Trend but is much cheaper.

Thank you all for quick responses. Dunno about the Lidl one cos i have never seen the items they advertise actually in store.
Dont mind spending a bit for a quieter item though. My workshop is only a shed so space is a precious thing.

The items i have that are in need of the extractor are, 10" table saw, Router, Router table, Drill press, Morticer and band saw. Also hand planer and Jigsaw and Circular saws too.

So it's either a very big shed,or very full

And welcome to the forum :D

about 10 x 8 i think ! It suits me as i keep some stuff in the garage. That means i do have enough room to move in the shed.
Looking at the magazine "The Woodworker" they have a group test of extractor which is useful as it answers a few questions but i think the better ones are out of my price range and also look quite big. I do have the space to make a box outside the shed which could house it and maybe a compressor. Food for thought.

How about the wall mounted Camvac GV286W? http://www.camvac.co.uk/

It looks like it would be suited to building into a box on the outside of your shed. I don't have one but have seen them at various woodworking shows and they look good quality, they aren't cheap but they look like they'll last and unlike some imports I expect you get parts service.

I have bought fittings off them and they have always beed very helpful so it may be worth a chat.

regards, Colin

Hi Tiler99

Welcome to the forum.

I have the wall mounted Camvac and it is very good, apart from being noisier than I would like.

Cheers
Neil
