For some time now I've been getting myself a workshop sorted. I've only ever done a bit of DIY previously and decided to go for it (a little bit)
So since May I've been buying tools and sorting out my workshop, but I quickly became aware of how much of an issue dust is.
I wanted to make a complete system and having recently seen Peter Parfits video on his "Dust box" I've made my own Dust Command centre!
I already owned a Karcher Vac which has always worked well so I am currently using that as my extractor and that is connected to a Dust Mite cyclone (Bought off Stu2).
I didn't have the right adapters so I made some out of some scraps of MDF and siliconed them all into place.
That is then connected to the Dust Command Centre.
This is now mounted on wall behind the bench where all of my bench tools are.
You see it's a simple design with 8 Blast gates. When you want to use a tool you open the blast gate and power on the tool.
I've used a TV power saving device and what this does is turn off power to DVD etc when it detects the TV is off. I'm using it to turn on the Vac when it detects a machine is being used.
I've not connected up my table saw and router table yet as they both live under the bench but that's the next job. I'm also going to get another length of hose to use as a vac for cleaning the bench etc.
I did so e test runs and even with the planer thicknesser it did a great job.
The total cost was around £100 including the smart plug and all the hoses.
